The Importance of Investing in Your Skin

The Importance of Investing in Your Skin

When I first decided to explore the world of facial treatments, I was drawn to the idea of micro needling. However, after a consultation at The Door W4, I realized that maybe it wasn’t the best option for me to start with. Dr. Julia recommended Profhilo instead, a treatment aimed at hydrating the skin, restoring a healthy glow, and stimulating collagen production.

Profhilo consists of hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in our bodies but tends to decrease with age. It acts as a bio-remodeling treatment that targets elastin, collagen, and adipose tissue within the skin. Unlike dermal fillers, Profhilo is more fluid in nature, spreading beneath the skin to provide subtle results with minimal downtime.

The Treatment Process

The Profhilo treatment involves around 10 injections in the cheeks and chin, and while it may cause some discomfort, it is generally well tolerated. After undergoing two rounds of treatment over the course of a month, I noticed some immediate improvements in my skin texture and hydration levels.

Evaluating Results

While Profhilo promises subtle yet positive changes to the skin, the extent of these results can vary depending on factors such as age and skin type. For me, being in my early 30s, the treatment acted as more of a preventative measure rather than a dramatic transformation.

Eight weeks post-treatment, I did see a slight improvement in my skin quality, but it wasn’t the drastic change I had anticipated. However, beyond the physical changes, I also experienced a shift in my attitude towards skincare.

Prior to undergoing the treatment, I had been quite neglectful of my skincare routine, often skipping basic steps like cleansing and moisturizing. However, after seeing the benefits of investing in my skin, I decided to revamp my daily regimen.

I introduced products like vitamin C serum, Micellar Water for makeup removal, SPF 50 sunscreen, and collagen treatments into my routine. Additionally, I made a conscious effort to stay hydrated by increasing my water intake throughout the day.

Investing in your skin is not just about seeking quick fixes or instant results. It’s about taking care of your skin on a consistent basis and making choices that will benefit its long-term health. Whether it’s through treatments like Profhilo or simply adopting a regular skincare routine, prioritizing your skin can lead to both external improvements and a positive shift in mindset.
