As season four of The Boys arrived on Amazon Prime Video, fans were aware there was one more season ahead. And it turns out that it will be the last. Showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed it himself in a tweet in June, writing, “Season 5 will be the Final Season! Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax.”
In an interview with Deadline, Kripke did not give many details, but he did say we should expect a time jump. “I know that moment where the title card comes up and it says six months later, and you see where everybody is,” he said. “I know that. I can really write the last 10 pages of this story right now.”
Actress Claudia Doumit followed up on the death of her character Vice President-elect Victoria Neuman in an interview with Deadline as well. “I think it’s a pretty permanent death,” she said. “It is time for Neuman’s story to be over. I fully believe that, because you have so many cool characters, that you have to wrap up their stories, and you only have one season left to do it.
Season Four welcomed Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. It has also been rumored that Jared Padalecki might make an appearance. He and Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy, starred in Kripke’s massively successful and long-running show Supernatural. Numerous cast members from the CW hit have appeared on The Boys and fans are constantly asking for a full reunion.
Kripke has suggested it would take about two years before the next season should be ready and season four just came out. So potentially 2026. He said the writer’s room assembled in June of this year. “Usually from about when you start the writers room, and we started like about a month ago, five weeks ago, to when generally you hit the air, it’s about two years and change,” he explained.
As fans eagerly anticipate the final season of The Boys, the speculation and excitement continue to build. With the promise of a time jump, character resolutions, and possible guest appearances, season five holds the potential to be the most explosive yet. While the wait may be long, the payoff is sure to be worthwhile for fans of this dark and twisted superhero series.
